A delightful International Women’s Day event for 2012, was held on Sunday March 4 at Tandoori Junction Indian Restaurant in Glen Waverly. It was a joint project of the Sikh Welfare Council of Victoria and WIN Foundation. Sponsored by the Sikh Welfare Society, it was a free function, so all could attend. About 60 women from many faiths joined together and spent 2 hours sharing information and stories from their traditions and life experiences. Faiths represented included Sikh, Buddhist, Christian, Jewish and Zoroastrian. There were apologies from our Muslim, Hindu and Indigenous sisters, who at the last minute were unable to attend. A delicious Indian afternoon tea was provided. The afternoon continued with musical items from some of the participants. A group photograph was taken at the end.
